Welcome to IIM
The Insurance Institute of Malawi is the arm of the insurance industry in Malawi that deals with education and training. Its main objective is to promote professionalism in the insurance industry through education and training. The Institute started operating in 1978. It has been administering examinations on behalf of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and the Insurance Institute of South Africa.

2012 Dinner & Dance
On the 18th of February, 2012 the Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) held its annual dinner and dance at the prestigious Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre. During the function the new president, Mr. Elias Chipungu of United General Insurance Company (UGI) was sworn in replacing Ms. Diana Kambale also of UGI. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Mathews Chikaonda urged leaders in the insurance industry to work at being good leaders if their organizations for the industry to flourish.

Benefits to Members
For members qualified in insurance at different levels, the Institute guides and assists them in gaining points towards Continuing Professional Development, CPD which is a requirement for all qualified at different levels. Members of the Institute can freely attend monthly meetings where speakers make presentations on various topics relating to and affecting Insurance.

Education
The Institute has plans to establish an Insurance College in Malawi to train people working in the insurance industry and the public, more specifically those handling insurance in companies and organisations. Mr Elias Chipungu President of IIMOne of the objectives of the Institute is promotion of good feeling and friendly intercourse amongst its members. The Institute achieved this through a number of activities which included having a braii, sports festival, lake trip and monthly meetings, which directly benefited members of the Institute.
